Fauntleroy Mid-Century Modern
Designed for a couple who loves to cook, entertain and garden, this project aims to create an open feeling and flow between the main level rooms and the two exterior decks. The refined materials and details added a warm elegance and reinstate mid-century design elements into the house. The kitchen windows were expanded and reconfigured to significantly improve the views to Puget Sound and the kitchen layout was optimized for cooking, gathering, and storage. The large island includes a seating area for breakfast and informal dining. The original interior cut up the common areas and a subsequent renovation added in low dining and living rooms soffits and clad the two-sided fireplace in large monolithic beige panels. All the old partitions, soffits and cladding were removed to create an open interior with vaulted ceilings and the fireplace was reclad in brick to bring back the mid-century feeling of the home.
